High quality springs are able to maintain a consitent form when pressed and sustain repeated use. GRIP springs a specially designed to maintain consistent and even pressure across the entire spring. Our tight tollerance manufacturing process ensures each spring is practically identical and will match up perfectly with other GRIP springs in their cavities.
Flat springs are typically manufactured using industrial punches or metal forming equipment. The most important factor in creating world class springs is the material selection. Most springs are made from a stainless steel variant,
springs for down hole tools require special considerations. The springs must have a long memory pattern and strong corrosive resistance, because tools can often be left downhole for 10+ years it is important that the spring is still able to
pop back into place after a long period of time in a hostile corrosive environment.
Once the material has been selected a mould is designed to manufacture the spring. The moulds are made from super hard durable steel designed to handle the pressure and speed of the manufacturing process. Once the mould has been created the
material is loaded into the metal forming machine and springs a pressed out.
After the springs have been formed, they are then sent to a tempering oven for a specific heat treatment schedule specific to their material. After the springs cool down they are then inspected and packaged for distribution. If you are interested in seeing metal forming equipment in action please take a look at this YouTube Video
